Train manners in Japan

Hello everyone! This is Yuhi from JapanSync management!

Today, I would like to talk about train manners in Japan!

Aside from the obvious things that are prohibited under Japanese law, such as not bringing hazardous materials on board, there are three basic rules that you need to know!

No talking and volume consideration There are no penalties here, as it is not required by law. On the other hand, it was born as a consideration for pacemaker wearers, and now it seems to be a consideration for tired businessmen.

Smell Consideration This one is also not prohibited by law. In some other countries, durians are prohibited from being brought into the country, but there is no such prohibition against bringing in certain items.

Priority seating and maternity markings Priority seating exists in each train car, and it is recommended that passengers with disabilities, the elderly, and pregnant women be given a seat. On the other hand, there seem to be a certain number of people who do not like such consideration, and in recent years the number of people who are willing to give up their seats has been on the decline, creating a negative spiral. I have decided not to sit in the first place or to walk away without saying anything.
